Are the doctors wrong? Does this mean she's okay?

My friends dad beat her really really bad last Thursday and was rushed to the hospital and hasn't waken up since, except for today. Today I was in the room holding her hand and then she opened her eyes for less than a second, and then shut them again. I could tell she was struggling to keep them open, but she couldn't. I thought it was good that she opened her eyes, but the doctors said it was bad because she should have kept them open. Do you think the doctors were wrong, is this a good thing or bad thing? Do you think she's going to be okay?
