Relics of Wakening (World of Warcraft) Quest Help?

Yeah, another WoW question. I'm a level 6 Night Elf, I got on the top of the mountainish place, and found the fountain on top and can't get by the level 10 vorlus vilehoof. Is he a part of the mission? Do I have to defeat him to move on? (and I know, it's harder to do it alone at a lower level) I need descriptive walkthroughs/links/advice..thanks
